Frisky Tom is an iconic arcade action game released by Nichibutsu in 1981. You play as the plumber Tom, tasked with a frantic job: maintaining a complex network of plumbing to ensure a steady supply of water reaches the shower tank above. Standing in your way are relentless mice who constantly chew through the pipes to sabotage the flow and attempt to ignite a bomb at the bottom of the screen.
How to play
Navigate the pipe framework to intercept the mice and reconnect any broken pipe segments before the water drains out. Move Tom using the arrow keys and use Z or X to pick up and place fallen pipes, or to knock the pesky mice off their perch. Keep the water flowing until the tank is full to clear the level, and always keep a close eye on the fuse at the bottom.
Tips
- Watch the fuse: The mice will occasionally attempt to light a fuse attached to a bomb. Prioritise knocking off any mouse that reaches the bottom, or the explosion will cost you a life.
- Act as a bridge: If a pipe breaks and you do not have the replacement piece yet, you can temporarily stand in the gap to guide the water across your body, preventing the tank level from dropping.
