Game description:

Fighting Eyes is a notorious 3D fighting game released exclusively in Japan for the PlayStation in 1998. Developed by Bandit, the title has earned a reputation in the retro gaming community as a legendary “kusoge” (terrible game) and a rare collector’s piece, with an estimated production run of only around 1,000 copies. Featuring a roster of bizarre fighters ranging from a slasher-movie-inspired ninja to a clown-like government spy, it is best experienced as a bizarre curiosity of the PS1 era.

The controls map the standard PlayStation layout: the D-pad handles character movement, while the face buttons execute basic punches, kicks, and throws. Mapped to your keyboard, movement uses the arrow keys, with attacks linked to the Z, X, C, and S keys, and Enter serving as Start. Unusually for the genre, the game completely lacks a jumping mechanic, forcing all combat to take place firmly on the ground.

  • Master the "Burst Command" system carefully; executing these specific moves can end a match abruptly, making them both a powerful tool and a frustrating mechanic to play against.
  • Because there is no way to jump, matches are purely horizontal. Focus heavily on spacing and blocking rather than attempting aerial approaches.
