Game description:

F-Zero X is a high-speed futuristic racing game developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Renowned for its blistering 60 frames-per-second gameplay and having 30 machines on track simultaneously, it delivers an intense arcade racing experience. You pilot hovercrafts across roller-coaster-like tracks suspended in mid-air, navigating loops, cylinders, and half-pipes while battling aggressive opponents at speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h.

How to Play

Your objective is to finish first in the Grand Prix by outrunning or destroying the other 29 racers. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow keys to steer your machine. Press Z to accelerate and X to brake. Use the Q and S keys (acting as the N64’s Z and R triggers) to lean into sharp corners. Double-tap these lean buttons to perform side attacks or spin attacks, which are vital for taking out rival racers. Press Enter to start or pause the game.

Tips

  • Manage your energy: Starting on the second lap, you can use your boost. Boosting consumes your energy meter, which also serves as your health. Balance boosting with survival to avoid blowing up.
  • Target your rivals: Aggressively eliminating other racers with spin or side attacks reduces competition and gives you a strategic advantage, especially against your designated “rival” (marked with a star).
  • Hit the pit areas: Drive over the pink, glowing sections of the track to recharge your energy meter. Prioritize hitting these zones after heavily boosting or taking damage.
