Game description:

Extreme Go-Kart Racing is a 3D kart racer released for the PlayStation in 2003 by A1 Games and developed by Now Production. Rather than relying on combat and weapons like many of its peers, the game focuses purely on driving mechanics, demanding players master tight cornering and drifting across its seven distinct tracks. With twelve unique characters to choose from, you can compete in Grand Prix tournaments, set records in Time Attack, or race head-to-head in split-screen multiplayer.

How to play

The core of the game revolves around building and using speed boosts. Instead of offensive items, you collect turbo capsules scattered around the courses to fill your boost meter, which you can then unleash on straightaways. To take corners without losing momentum, you will need to utilize the drift technique.

  • Steer: D-Pad (mapped to Arrow Keys)
  • Accelerate: Cross (mapped to X)
  • Brake / Reverse: Square (mapped to Z)
  • Drift / Turbo: Triggers / Face buttons (mapped to A / S / Q / W)

Tips

  • Memorize the placement of turbo capsules; they are often hidden near difficult corners or tricky obstacles, giving you a boost exactly when you need to recover speed.
  • Mastering the drift is essential for higher difficulties, as steering normally through sharp turns will cause you to lose too much momentum to keep up with the CPU opponents.
