Game description:

Energy Breaker is a distinctive tactical RPG released for the SNES by Neverland in 1994. Unlike many strategy games of its era, it blends grid-based, isometric tactical battles with the freedom to explore towns and environments like a traditional RPG. The game is particularly notable for its vibrant character designs by Yasuhiro Nightow, the creator of Trigun.

How to Play

Your goal is to guide the protagonist Myra on her journey to uncover her lost memories, engaging in strategic combat along the way. During battles, characters use a pool of Balance Points (BP) to move and execute attacks, requiring careful resource management each turn.

  • D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move cursor or character
  • A (X Key): Confirm action, inspect, or attack
  • B (Z Key): Cancel action
  • X / Y (S / A Keys): Rotate the isometric camera or open menus
  • L / R (Q / W Keys): Additional camera and menu control
  • Start / Select (Enter / Shift): Pause or view status

Tips

  • Manage your BP carefully: Moving and attacking both draw from the same pool of Balance Points. Sometimes it is better to move a shorter distance so you have enough points left for a powerful attack.
  • Use the environment: Height differences and positioning matter in isometric combat. Try to attack from higher ground or behind enemies for a tactical advantage.
  • Talk to everyone: Since the game allows free exploration outside of combat, take the time to speak with NPCs in towns to gather information and find items.
