Elf Legend is an infamous unlicensed platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is actually a heavily modified ROM hack of the classic co-op game Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2. In this bootleg version, the familiar chipmunks are replaced with bizarre new protagonists resembling a Teletubby and a Pokรฉmon. The game has gained a cult following in retro gaming circles for its unintentionally humorous, poorly translated dialogue.
How to Play
Because it is built on the engine of Rescue Rangers 2, the gameplay revolves around picking up and throwing crates, apples, and even your partner to defeat enemies. In your browser, use the Arrow Keys to move and crouch. Press Z to jump and X to pick up or throw items (mapped to the NES A and B buttons). Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Since the mechanics are identical to Rescue Rangers 2, you can stun enemies by hitting them with objects, then pick up the stunned enemies to use as projectiles.
- In two-player mode, be careful with your throws, as you can accidentally hit and stun your partner.
