Eco Fighters (known in Japan as Ultimate Ecology) is a horizontally-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the Arcade by Capcom in 1993 on their CP System II hardware. Made by the same team behind the Mega Man arcade titles The Power Battle and The Power Fighters, it drops you into an eco-themed fight against a cast of cartoonish polluters, armed with a mechanical arm-mounted gun that rotates a full 360 degrees independently of your ship.
How to Play
Your objective is to fly through each stage blasting incoming enemies while dodging their fire, using the rotating gun arm to aim in any direction â including straight back at things chasing you from behind. The game supports up to 2 players at once.
Default Browser Controls:
- Insert Coin: Shift (or 5)
- Start: Enter (or 1)
- Movement: Arrow Keys
- Fire: Z
- Rotate Arm Clockwise: X
- Rotate Arm Counter-Clockwise: C
Tips
- Spray while turning: Hold the fire button while rotating the arm to sweep a continuous spray of shots across the screen â much more effective against clustered enemies than firing in one fixed direction.
- Use the rear arc: Because the gun can point anywhere around the ship, don’t just focus on threats ahead â swing the arm around to clear enemies and bullets approaching from behind.
- Play it with a partner: The arcade original was designed for 2-player co-op, so a second player can help cover angles solo play has to constantly rotate to reach.
