Game description:

Dragon Sword 64 is an unreleased fantasy hack-and-slash adventure developed by Interactive Studios for the Nintendo 64. Originally intended for a 1998 release, the game was a combat-focused dungeon crawler inspired by arcade classics like Golden Axe. Before its cancellation, a nearly complete beta build was developed where players could choose from four distinct crusaders to battle their way through the land of Avantaria and defeat an evil god. Though never officially published, this leaked prototype offers a fascinating look at an ambitious four-player melee game from the N64 era.

How to play

Choose one of the four crusaders and battle your way through the fantasy levels of Avantaria. Use the Arrow Keys to move (acting as the N64 analog stick). The X and C keys typically map to the A and B buttons for attacking and jumping, while Enter acts as Start. Use the W, A, S, D keys for C-button camera controls and Shift or Space for shoulder/Z-trigger buttons. Master chaining your basic attacks to clear out groups of enemies efficiently.

Tips

  • Since this is an unfinished beta, you may encounter bugs or incomplete levels; save your progress frequently using emulator save states if available.
  • Try out all four playable characters to see which crusader's weapon and combat style best suits your playstyle.
