Brix is a 1982 arcade action-maze game, originally developed by Advanced Microcomputer Systems and published by Cinematronics under the title Zzyzzyxx before being rebranded as a conversion kit. Players control a protagonist navigating upward through a grid of constantly shifting brick walls. The goal is to collect gifts and safely reach a character named Lola at the top of the screen while avoiding enemies called Rattifers that roam the maze.
How to Play
The objective is to make your way from the bottom of the screen to the top by stepping into gaps within the horizontally moving brick rows. Use the Arrow keys to move up, down, left, and right through the gaps. Press 1 to start the game and 5 to insert coins. If you get trapped between moving bricks or touch a Rattifer, you lose a life.
Tips
- Watch the movement patterns of the brick rows carefully; some move faster than others, which can quickly trap you if you do not time your upward movement correctly.
- Prioritize the gifts scattered in the maze for extra points, but do not risk a life for them if a Rattifer is closing in.
