Dragon Ball Z: The Legend (also known as Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu) is an ambitious 3D team-based fighting game released for the PlayStation in 1996 by Bandai. Instead of a traditional 1v1 setup, this title lets you participate in sprawling, multi-character battles that recreate the most iconic arcs of the anime, from the Saiyan Saga through the Majin Buu Saga. The unique battle system abandons standard health bars in favor of a tug-of-war “Power Balance” meter, requiring you to chain attacks and overwhelm your opponent’s momentum to deal real damage.
How to Play
The game is fully playable in your browser. Since this is a PlayStation title, controls map to the standard controller:
- D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Fly freely around the expansive arenas.
- X / Cross: Execute melee strikes and physical combos.
- Square: Fire rapid Ki blasts.
- Circle: Dash toward enemies or defend against attacks.
- Triangle: Switch your active target.
- L / R Triggers: Issue commands to your AI teammates.
- Start (Enter): Pause the game.
Gameplay Tips
- Master the Power Balance: Standard attacks don’t reduce health directly. You must dominate the skirmish to push the bottom-screen meter into your favor. Once fully charged, your team will execute a spectacular cinematic “Meteo Attack” to deal massive damage.
- Manage Your Ki: Dashing, defending, and firing energy blasts consume your Ki meter. If it depletes completely, your character will be temporarily exhausted and vulnerable. Take moments of distance to charge it back up.
- Coordinate Attacks: In 3v3 battles, use the trigger buttons to direct your partners to gang up on strong foes or protect you while you recover.
