Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine is a competitive falling-block puzzle game released for the Sega Genesis in 1993. Developed by Compile and published by Sega, it is a localized version of Puyo Puyo set in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog animated universe. You must outsmart Dr. Robotnik and his Badniks across 13 stages to free the kidnapped denizens of Beanville.
How to Play
Your goal is to fill up your opponent’s screen with beans so they cannot make any more moves, while keeping your own screen clear. You control falling pairs of colorful beans; connect four or more of the same color vertically, horizontally, or in an L-shape to make them disappear.

Tips
- Build Chains: Simply clearing four beans won’t do much. You need to set up chains where clearing one set of beans causes the remaining ones to drop and form another matching set.
- Send Garbage: Creating chain reactions drops clear, unmatchable Refugee Beans on your opponent’s side. These can only be cleared by popping normal beans directly adjacent to them.
- Stay Flat: Keep your stack of beans relatively flat. If you build towering spires, you will have less time to react and place incoming beans.
