Double Dribble is a fast-paced 5-on-5 sports game developed by Konami in 1987 for the Sega Genesis. Bringing arcade-style basketball to home consoles, it features full-court action, selectable teams with varying stats, and memorable close-up cutscenes that trigger during spectacular slam dunks.
How to play
The objective is to outscore the opposing team across four quarters by passing, stealing, and shooting. Using the Sega Genesis layout mapped to your keyboard, navigate the court with the Arrow Keys. On offense, press S (A) to pass and X (B) to shoot; on defense, use S to switch players and X to attempt a steal. You can also press Z (C) for rebounding and Enter (Start) to pause the game.
Tips
- Take advantage of the game’s famous three-point “sweet spots” by shooting from the extreme top or bottom corners of the three-point line, which often results in a guaranteed basket.
- When driving for a slam dunk to trigger a cutscene, ensure you have a clear path to the hoop; defenders can easily strip the ball if you run directly into them.
- Focus on anticipating passes rather than constantly attempting steals, as missing a steal attempt will leave your defender out of position and the opponent wide open.
