Double Dragon II: The Revenge is a genre-defining arcade beat ’em up developed by Technōs Japan in 1988. Following the tragic loss of Marian, martial artists Billy and Jimmy Lee battle their way through the ruthless Black Warriors gang to avenge her.
How to play
Progress through various stages by defeating every enemy in your path. The game features a unique directional combat system: one button attacks in the direction you are facing, while another performs a backward strike. A third button is used for jumping. You can pick up and wield weapons like bats, knives, and whips dropped by defeated gang members.
Tips
- Master the Cyclone Kick: Press the jump button, then an attack button at the peak of your jump to unleash the spinning cyclone kick, which easily clears out crowds of enemies.
- Use the environment: Many stages feature pits, ledges, and hazards. Throwing or knocking enemies into these obstacles instantly defeats them.
