Don Doko Don is a classic fixed-screen arcade platformer developed by Taito and released in 1989. Following in the footsteps of the beloved Bubble Bobble, you play as bearded lumberjacks Bob and Jim on a quest to rescue the king and princess of Marry Land. Instead of blowing bubbles, you wield giant mallets to stun the various enemies that populate each single-screen stage. Once an enemy is dazed, you can pick them up and hurl them across the level to take out other foes, turning them into bonus fruit and high-score items.
How to Play
The objective is to clear every enemy from the screen to advance to the next stage. Use the directional keys to move and climb ladders. Press your primary action button to swing your mallet and stun enemies, then walk into a stunned enemy to pick them up. Press attack again to throw them. If you take too long on a single stage, an invincible enemy will appear and chase you down, so keep moving!
Tips
- Throw enemies into groups: A thrown enemy will barrel through others, taking out multiple targets at once and rewarding you with better point items.
- Watch for hidden items: Striking empty air in certain spots or defeating enemies in specific ways can reveal secret power-ups that increase your speed or attack range.
