Doki! Doki! Yuuenchi is a unique action platformer developed by KID and published for the NES in 1991. You play as a young boy fighting his way through a bizarre amusement park to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. Rather than jumping on enemies, you attack by kicking soccer balls across the screen. The game is notable for its unusual damage system and was later reskinned in the West as The Trolls in Crazyland.
How to Play
Navigate through the amusement park stages, defeating enemies and bosses to save your girlfriend. In your browser, the default NES controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move, Z to jump, X to kick your soccer ball, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Use damage to your advantage: The game features an unusual mechanic where taking damage actually increases your attack power. Your shirt color changes to indicate your health and strength level.
- Watch your health: While being at lower health makes you stronger, it also puts you one hit away from losing a life. Balance the risk of high damage output with careful platforming.
- Bounce your shots: Your soccer balls can bounce off walls and obstacles, allowing you to hit enemies from safe angles without putting yourself in direct danger.
