Die Hard Trilogy is a unique three-in-one action game released for the PlayStation in 1996 by Probe Entertainment. Instead of sticking to a single style, the game adapts the first three movies in the blockbuster action franchise into three entirely different gameplay genres. You battle through the Nakatomi Plaza in a third-person shooter based on the original Die Hard, take out terrorists in Dulles Airport in an on-rails light gun shooter based on Die Hard 2: Die Harder, and race against the clock to defuse bombs in a chaotic driving game based on Die Hard with a Vengeance.
How to Play
Because the game spans three different genres, your objectives shift depending on the movie you choose. In the Nakatomi Plaza, you must rescue hostages and eliminate terrorists before advancing. In the airport, your goal is to survive waves of enemies by aiming and shooting quickly. In New York City, you must race to designated locations and run over explosives before time runs out.
Default PlayStation controls apply: use the D-pad for movement or steering, and the face buttons (Cross/Square/Triangle/Circle) to shoot, accelerate, or interact depending on the game mode. You can remap these inputs in the emulator menu.
Tips
- In the Die Hard with a Vengeance driving segment, rely on the on-screen arrows and compass to find the most direct routes to the bombs. Running over pedestrians gives a penalty, but destroying other vehicles can often clear the way.
- The Die Harder light gun section is fast-paced; memorize enemy spawn locations and don’t forget to grab weapon upgrades like the shotgun and machine gun to manage crowds.
- When playing the first Die Hard, approach blind corners carefully. Rushing into rooms often leads to crossfire, so use walls for cover and clear rooms methodically.
