Devil Fish is a quirky 1982 arcade maze game developed by Artic Electronics. You control a dog navigating a series of narrow pathways, tasked with eliminating the titular “devil fish” (squids) that roam the area. Rather than eating dots like in traditional maze games, your goal is to lure the squids into tight corridors using fish as bait. Once a squid eats the bait, it becomes trapped, allowing you to touch it and clear it from the board.
How to Play
Insert a virtual coin (usually 5) and press Start (1) to begin. Use the arrow keys to move your dog through the maze and the action buttons (often Z, X, or Space) to drop fish bait. Drop fish near the squids to lure them into the narrower passages where they will get stuck. Once you clear the squids, a house appears in the center; touching it reveals a piece of a hidden drawing. Reveal the entire picture to advance to the next level.
Tips
- Plan your traps: Don’t drop bait randomly. Position yourself near a narrow corridor so the squid follows you in before you drop the fish.
- Watch your timing: Squids only get trapped if they eat the fish while inside a narrow passage. If they eat it in the open, they will just keep chasing you.
