Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness is a fast-paced 2D mecha fighting game developed by Capcom and ported to the PlayStation in 1997. A spin-off of the arcade beat ’em up Armored Warriors, the game drops you into the cockpit of towering mechas known as Variant Armors (VAs). The game stands out by separating your pilot from your machineโyou choose your pilot for the storyline, but your fighting style, special moves, and mobility are determined entirely by the Variant Armor you select for combat.
How to Play
Unlike traditional Capcom six-button fighters, Cyberbots utilizes a specialized four-button control scheme built around mecha combat: two melee attack buttons, a projectile weapon button, and a boost button. You must deplete your opponent’s Shield Gauge (health) to win the round.
- Movement: D-pad (mapped to Arrow keys in the browser)
- Primary Actions (Square, Triangle, X, Circle): Mapped to A, S, Z, X for your melee attacks, ranged weapons, and boosting
- Start / Select: Enter / Shift
Tips
- Watch your Arm Damage: Taking concentrated damage can cause your VA’s arm to fall off, disabling some of your attacks until you walk over and reattach it.
- Manage your Gauges: Keep an eye on your Weapon and Boost gauges. Overusing your projectiles or mobility boosts will deplete them, forcing you to wait for a recharge and leaving you vulnerable.
