Cruis’n USA is a fast-paced arcade racing game originally developed by Midway and brought to the Nintendo 64 in 1996. Players speed across a stylized version of the United States, racing against the clock and rival drivers through iconic locations ranging from the Redwood forests to the streets of Washington D.C.
How to Play
The objective is to clear each checkpoint before time runs out, ultimately completing all 14 stages in the cross-country “Cruise the USA” mode. Use the Arrow keys to steer your vehicle. Acceleration, braking, and gear shifting are mapped to the standard action buttons (Z, X, A, S, Q, and W). Press Enter for Start.
Tips
- While automatic transmission is easier for beginners, switching to manual gives your car a slightly higher top speed and faster acceleration after a crash.
- Drafting behind opponents or civilian traffic provides a temporary speed boost, but stay alert to avoid rear-ending them.
- Keep an eye out for off-road shortcuts in tracks like the Redwood Forest and Chicago to shave crucial seconds off your final time.
