Crazy Otto – NES Edition is a browser-playable ROM hack for the Nintendo Entertainment System that reimagines the classic arcade gameplay of Ms. Pac-Man. Built upon the Tengen release of Ms. Pac-Man, this hack restores the visual aesthetic of “Crazy Otto,” the original arcade prototype developed by General Computer Corporation that Midway eventually purchased and turned into the iconic Ms. Pac-Man.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate the maze, eat all the dots to advance to the next stage, and avoid the pursuing monsters. Eating a power pellet temporarily turns the monsters blue, allowing you to chomp them for bonus points. In the browser, use the arrow keys to control your character, press Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Unlike the original Pac-Man, the monsters in this game feature semi-randomised movement. You cannot rely on memorised patterns to clear the boards and must react dynamically to their movements.
- Bonus items (like fruit) bounce through the maze instead of remaining stationary in the centre. Try to intercept them safely for extra points before they leave the screen.
