Game description:

Crash Bandicoot 2 – Cortex no Gyakushuu! (Japan) is the Japanese release of Naughty Dog’s acclaimed 1997 3D platformer for the PlayStation. Following the events of the first game, Crash must travel through warp rooms and gather crystals for his former nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex. This version retains the classic tight platforming action while offering regional adjustments tailored for the Japanese audience.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the end of each level while smashing crates, dodging hazards, and collecting the pink crystal hidden in the stage. Collect 100 Wumpa fruit to earn an extra life. The original PlayStation controls map to your keyboard in the browser:

  • Movement (D-pad): Arrow Keys
  • Jump (Cross): X
  • Spin (Square): Z
  • Crouch / Slide (Circle): S
  • Status (Triangle): A
  • Pause (Start): Enter

Tips

  • Slide Jump: Press the jump button while sliding to leap much higher and further than a standard jump. This move is essential for clearing large gaps and discovering secrets.
  • Body Slam: Press the crouch button while in mid-air to slam the ground. This breaks reinforced steel crates that cannot be opened with a regular spin.
  • Bonus Rounds: Keep an eye out for platforms marked with a question mark. These lead to bonus areas where you can safely collect extra lives. If you fall down a pit in a bonus round, you will just be returned to the main level without losing a life.
