Ironclad (also known as Choutetsu Brikinger in Japan) is a horizontal-scrolling shoot ’em up developed by Saurus and originally intended for the Neo Geo CD in 1996. While it wasn’t officially released in arcades during its era, this rare prototype allows you to experience its gorgeous pre-rendered 3D sprites and intense action right in your browser.
How to Play
Your objective is to pilot a heavily armed ship through enemy territory, blasting through waves of hostile forces across branching stages. A defining feature of Ironclad is the attachable robot pod you control. The default arcade web controls use the Arrow Keys for movement. Use Z to fire your primary weapons, X to launch or attach your robot pod, and Enter to start the game. Insert virtual coins by pressing Shift.
Tips
- Master the Pod: Your pod can block incoming enemy projectiles. When detached, it attacks independently and can be thrown at enemies for massive damage.
- Branching Paths: After completing a stage, you get to choose your next route. Experiment with different paths to face entirely different stages and bosses.
- Charge Your Attacks: When the pod is attached to your ship, holding down the fire button allows you to unleash a devastating charged laser.
