Originally created by Dan Gorlin for Broderbund, Choplifter is a classic 1986 action shoot ’em up ported to the NES. You pilot a combat rescue helicopter behind enemy lines with a critical mission: blast through hostile defenses, land at prisoner of war camps, and safely transport the hostages back to your home base.
How to Play
Your objective is to rescue as many hostages as possible while surviving enemy fire from tanks, jets, and anti-aircraft guns. Use the Arrow keys to move your helicopter. Press Z to fire your weapons and X to change the direction your chopper is facing. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
Be extremely careful when landing near the barracks. If you land directly on the escaping hostages or shoot them by mistake, they will be killed. It is often best to hover and clear out any nearby tanks before touching down so the prisoners have a safe path to board.
