Developed by Konami and released for the NES in 1992, Bucky O’Hare is a brilliant but often overlooked run-and-gun platformer that shares a lot of DNA with the Mega Man series. You control the titular green hare and his crew on a mission to free the Toad Menace’s captives across various distinct planets.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate through challenging side-scrolling stages, defeat enemies, and rescue your captured crew members. Once rescued, you can swap between crew members at any time to use their unique abilities. The game uses standard NES controls: move with the arrow keys, press Z to jump, X to shoot, and use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
Don’t stick with just one character; swapping is essential for surviving tough areas. Use Blinky to fly over wide gaps, and switch to Deadeye Duck to scale walls that other characters cannot climb. Keep an eye out for special weapon upgrades to maximize your firepower against bosses.
