Astro Robo Sasa is a unique physics-based action-shooter released for the Nintendo Famicom (NES) in 1985. Originally developed by ASCII Corporation for the MSX computer, this console port tasks players with guiding a small robot through challenging, gravity-affected stages to collect energy packs and rescue his partner, Nana.
How to Play
The objective is to collect all the energy pods in each stage to open a black hole to the next level. Movement is entirely driven by physics: shooting your gun propels you in the opposite direction. Since your energy serves as both your ammunition and your life gauge, every shot drains your reserves. Play in the browser using the default NES controls: move and aim with the arrow keys, shoot to propel yourself with Z and X, and press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Careful resource management is critical; tap the fire button lightly for small adjustments instead of holding it down to avoid wasting energy.
- Use walls and floors to your advantageโfiring against a surface lets you slide along it, which is much more energy-efficient than flying in open space.
- In 2-player mode, players can shoot each other to transfer energy, which can be a lifesaver if one player is running low.
