Game description:

Brandish 2: The Planet Buster is an action RPG and dungeon crawler released for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1995 by Nihon Falcom. Following the events of the first game, you play as the swordsman Ares on a journey to escape from a hostile desert kingdom. The game is notable for its unique perspective: instead of the character rotating when you turn, the entire map rotates around you, keeping the camera constantly fixed behind Ares’ back.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate perilous dungeon floors, solve puzzles, and battle monsters in real-time to find the exit. Managing your equipment is critical, as weapons can break with repeated use. Use the standard SNES mappings for your browser: the D-pad (arrow keys) moves Ares forward, backward, or strafes left and right. Use the L and R buttons (Q and W keys) to rotate the map 90 degrees. Attack with the A/B/X/Y buttons (Z/X/A/S keys) to strike enemies and interact with the environment.

Tips

  • Watch your weapon durability: Standard swords will break after a certain number of strikes. Always carry backup weapons or rely on magic when exploring.
  • Master the rotation: The map rotation can be disorienting at first. Practice turning using the shoulder buttons in a safe room until navigating and attacking feels natural.
  • Check the walls: Secret doors are common. If you hit a dead end, look for slightly discolored walls or use a sledgehammer item to break through weakened structures.
