Blaze On Japan is a horizontal scrolling shooter released for arcades in 1992 by Atlus. You pilot a specialized spacecraft capable of disabling specific enemy robotic armors and merging with them. Instead of relying purely on traditional power-ups, surviving the bullet-heavy stages requires strategically hijacking these enemy mechs to utilize their unique weapons and shielding.
How to Play
Your objective is to shoot your way through waves of enemies and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. When you see a green, paralyzable enemy, hitting them with a stun shot allows you to dock with their machine and take over its capabilities. To play in the browser, press 5 or Shift to insert a coin and 1 or Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to move your ship, Z to fire your weapon, and X to fire your paralyzer shot to capture enemy armors.
Gameplay Tips
- Use the right armor: Different enemy mechs provide different advantages, such as spread shots, heavy lasers, or homing missiles. Don’t hesitate to ditch a heavily damaged armor for a fresh one.
- Size matters: When you capture an enemy, your hitbox increases significantly. Be prepared to navigate tighter bullet patterns more carefully than when you are in your base ship.
- Prioritize survival: Captured mechs act as a shield. Taking too much damage will destroy the armor but leave your core ship intact, giving you a chance to capture another suit.
