Beast Busters (US Version 3) is SNK’s 1989 arcade rail shooter, released in North America as one of the game’s several regional ROM revisions. Set in a city overrun by the undead, it casts you as one of three mercenaries — Johnny Justice, Paul Patriot, or Sammy Stately — hired to wipe out the horde of reanimated “Beasts” before they take the whole town. It was the first light-gun shooter to support three simultaneous players, running on machine-gun-style mounted guns in the original cabinet.

How to Play

Fight through the city’s seven stages, gunning down zombies and mutated beasts while picking up rockets, grenades, armor, and ammo along the way. Watch out for sub-bosses and end-bosses, several of which mutate into a second, tougher form. In the browser, use the arrow keys to aim your crosshair, Z to fire your machine gun, and X to throw a grenade. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.

Tips

• Ammo runs out fast — shoot crates and downed enemies that drop pickups instead of spraying at empty ground.
• Save grenades for the mutated boss forms; a well-timed throw clears a screen full of Beasts in one hit.
• Beasts often rush in from both edges of the screen at once, so keep your aim moving instead of camping the center.
