Back Fire is a horizontal shoot ’em up developed by Tecmo in 1988. While it was showcased at the 1987 AM Show, the game never saw an official wide arcade release. Today, this bootleg prototype offers a rare look at Tecmo’s early design ideas. Most notably, much of the background art created for Back Fire was later reused in their highly successful classic, Silk Worm. Players navigate through 18 scrolling stages, dodging enemy fire and collecting power-ups to upgrade their ship’s weaponry.
