Army Men: Green Rogue is a 2001 action shoot-’em-up developed by The 3DO Company for the PlayStation. Unlike the tactical combat of earlier entries in the series, Green Rogue plays as an arcade-style, on-rails shooter. You take control of Omega Soldier, a genetically engineered super-soldier created from the melted-down plastic of the Green Army’s best fighters, tasked with blasting through heavy waves of the rival Tan Army.
How to Play
The objective is to survive each auto-scrolling level while destroying Tan soldiers, vehicles, and base installations. Default PlayStation controls map movement to the D-pad, allowing you to position Omega Soldier around the screen while the camera advances automatically. Use the action buttons to fire your primary weapon and deploy the heavy weapons or explosives you collect along the way.
Tips
- Save your heavy weapons and explosives for clusters of enemies or fortified Tan vehicles; your default rifle is sufficient for basic infantry.
- Keep moving to avoid incoming fire. Because the screen scrolls automatically, prioritizing your dodging is just as important as shooting.
- Look out for weapon upgrades and health drops. Maintaining an upgraded arsenal is crucial to surviving the later, more heavily guarded stages.
