Game description:

Arkanoid is Taito’s 1986 arcade classic, the game that turned Breakout-style block-busting into a genre of its own. You control the Vaus, a small paddle at the bottom of the screen, bouncing a ball upward to smash rows of coloured bricks. It’s simple to pick up but demands sharp reflexes and angle control as the ball speeds up and stages get trickier.

How to Play

Clear every brick on a stage to advance; lose the ball past your paddle and you lose a life. Coloured capsules occasionally drop from broken bricks — catch them with the Vaus for power-ups like Expand (a wider paddle), Laser (fire shots to blast bricks directly), Catch (the paddle grips the ball for a controlled launch), Disruption (splits the ball into three), Slow (reduces ball speed), and Player (an extra life). Some stages hide a secret brick that warps you straight to a bonus round. The run ends with a boss fight against DOH.

Controls: Arrow keys (Left/Right) to move the Vaus, and the action button to fire the laser when powered up.

Tips

  • Aim for the edges of the paddle to angle the ball toward isolated bricks instead of always bouncing it straight back up.
  • Grab a Laser capsule when you see one — it’s the safest way to clear tough silver or gold bricks that need multiple hits.
  • Keep the paddle centered when you don’t need to move; it gives you the most time to react to a bad bounce.
