Game description:

Arabian Nights – Sabaku no Seirei Ou is a traditional role-playing game developed by Pandora Box for the Super Nintendo in 1996. Set in a charming, Arabian-inspired world, it features turn-based combat with a unique card-based magic system that alters the battlefield environment, allowing players to gain tactical advantages over enemies. Released late in the SNES lifecycle exclusively in Japan, it is widely enjoyed today through fan translations.

How to Play

You explore towns and dungeons, manage your party, and fight in turn-based random encounters. To play in your browser, use the standard SNES controls: the D-pad is mapped to your Arrow Keys for movement, while A, B, X, and Y (mapped to Z, X, A, and S) handle actions and menus. The L and R shoulder buttons are mapped to Q and W, with Start and Select on Enter and Shift.

Gameplay Tips

  • Master the Cards: The magic card system during combat can significantly change the arena. Pay attention to how using different cards shifts the field state to empower your party’s attacks or weaken enemies.
  • Guaranteed Escapes: Random encounters are very frequent. If the encounter rate becomes overwhelming, keep pushing until level 19, where you learn a skill that allows for a 100% successful escape from any regular battle.
  • Boss Strategy: Save your “Level 0” cards for difficult boss encounters; they are highly effective at neutralizing powerful bosses that rely heavily on their own card sets.
