Arabian is a platform game developed and published by Sun Electronics for arcades in 1983, distributed in North America under license by Atari. Set in a Persian fantasy world, it casts the player as an adventurous prince on a quest to rescue a princess from her palace, climbing castle walls, crawling through caves, sailing seas, and riding magic carpets along the way.
How to Play
The goal on each stage is to collect the letters spelling out A-R-A-B-I-A-N, with a bonus awarded for picking them up in order, while brass jugs and other items add to your score. Genies chasing you grow angrier and fling more smokeballs as the action speeds up, and Rocs and other enemies block your path. Use the arrow keys to move, jump, climb, and crawl in all eight directions, and press Z to kick enemies out of your way.
Tips
- Grab the letters in order: Collecting A-R-A-B-I-A-N out of sequence still scores points, but picking them up in the correct order earns a bonus, so plan your route across the stage rather than grabbing whichever letter is closest.
- Kick, don’t dodge: A well-timed kick clears a genie or Roc out of your path instead of forcing a detour, which matters once the later stages speed up and smokeballs start flying more often.
