Game description:

Amigo is a classic 1982 arcade game recognized widely as an unauthorized bootleg clone of Konami’s popular maze title, Amidar. Rather than featuring entirely original mechanics, this release mirrors the grid-coloring and line-tracing action of its inspiration, offering the exact same challenging gameplay under a different name. As was common in the early 1980s arcade scene, modified versions like this one were distributed to bypass official licensing while capitalizing on the success of the original.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate the grid and color in all the rectangles on the board while avoiding patrolling enemies. In some stages you collect items along the paths, while in others you trace the perimeters of boxes to fill them in. The game uses standard arcade controls in the browser:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys
  • Action: Z or X
  • Start / Insert Coin: Enter / Shift

Tips

  • Save your jumps: You have a very limited number of jumps per stage (which actually cause the enemies to jump over you, rather than your character leaping). Keep them for emergencies when you are trapped in a corner.
  • Clear the edges first: The outer edges of the grid are often the most dangerous places to get stuck. Try to fill those outer boxes early in the round before the enemies speed up.
