Game description:

Released in 2002 by Mud Duck Productions, All Star Racing is a budget-friendly PlayStation racing title that strips away complex career modes in favor of straightforward arcade action. Players can jump straight into single-player races across four distinct disciplines: GT Racer, Stockcar Frenzy, Classic Cars, and Supercar Challenge. With a total of twelve vehicles and twelve unique tracks, the focus is entirely on outmaneuvering five computer-controlled opponents in standard circuit competitions.

How to Play

Your objective is to finish first against the AI opponents across various customisable event lengths, ranging from quick three-lap sprints to fifteen-lap endurance runs. Use the D-pad (mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys) to steer, while acceleration and braking are handled by the standard PlayStation face buttons (typically mapped to Z, X, A, and S on your keyboard). Press Start (Enter) to pause the race or access the menu.

Tips

  • The computer opponents rigidly stick to their programmed racing lines; use this predictability to dive inside their path during sharp corners for an easy overtake.
  • Because the physics are quite simplistic, trying to drift will often slow you down. Focus on smooth, consistent steering to maintain your top speed instead.
  • Use the shorter three-lap races on the Easy difficulty to get comfortable with how the heavier Stockcar handles compared to the nimble Supercar before attempting longer sessions.
