Agent Armstrong is a 1997 side-scrolling action platformer developed by King of the Jungle for the PlayStation. Set in 1935, the game puts you in the shoes of a tough British Secret Service agent tasked with taking down a global criminal organization known as the Syndicate. Although it plays like a traditional 2D run-and-gun game, the environments are fully 3D, allowing you to move into the background or foreground to explore, fight enemies, and navigate around hazards across 30 worldwide levels.
How to Play
Your main objective in each level is to complete specific mission goals, which usually involve fighting through Syndicate forces and destroying their supply crates. The game uses standard PlayStation controls mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move (including stepping in and out of the screen), and the face buttons (Z, X, A, S) to jump, fire your weapon, and use grenades. Press Enter to pause the game or access the mission menu.
Tips
- Use depth to dodge: The 2.5D movement isn’t just for exploration. Stepping into the background or foreground is the best way to avoid incoming enemy fire.
- Manage your munitions: While your standard weapon gets the job done, heavier weapons and grenades are limited. Save your explosive ordinance for tougher enemies and boss fights.
