The Adventures of Dr. Franken is an unreleased action-platformer prototype developed for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1993. Based on the Game Boy title Dr. Franken, players control Franky, a patchwork monster on a mission to gather the scattered parts of his girlfriend hidden throughout a sprawling, multi-level mansion. Because this NES version was never officially released, it stands as a unique piece of gaming history, allowing players to experience an incomplete but playable 8-bit rendition of the quirky platformer.
How to Play
Navigate the maze-like mansion to locate keys, uncover hidden passages, and collect items necessary to progress. As an NES title, the game relies on standard controls: use the D-pad to move, press A to jump, and press B to attack enemies. In this browser version, use the Arrow Keys to move, Z and X to mimic the A and B buttons, and Enter or Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- The mansion is huge and non-linear. Try paying close attention to distinct room features to avoid getting lost in the maze.
- Combat can be unforgiving. Time your attacks carefully and learn enemy movement patterns before rushing into new areas.
