Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Dragons of Flame is a 1992 action role-playing game released for the Famicom (NES). Developed by Atelier Double, this direct sequel to Heroes of the Lance adapts the Dragonlance setting into a side-scrolling adventure with an overworld map. Players guide a party of heroes to liberate the world of Krynn from the invading draconian armies, engaging in real-time combat encounters while exploring dungeons, forests, and ruins.
How to Play
Navigate the party across the overworld map and enter side-scrolling sequences when exploring locations or encountering enemies. In combat, you control one character at a time. Use the D-pad (Arrow Keys) to move and navigate menus. Press A (Z) to attack and B (X) to jump or use character-specific abilities. Start (Enter) pauses the game, and Select (Shift) opens the party menu to switch your active character or manage items.
Tips
- Balance your party: Switch between characters frequently based on the situation. Use heavily armored fighters for melee combat, and keep your spellcasters safely in the back to use magic from a distance.
- Save spells for bosses: Magic is a limited resource. Rely on standard physical attacks against weak overworld enemies to preserve your spells for tougher dungeon bosses.
