RealSports Baseball is a classic 1982 sports title released by Atari, Inc. for the Atari 2600. Pushing the console’s hardware past earlier, simplified interpretations of the sport, it offers a surprisingly complete baseball experience with full nine-player teams, distinct pitching and batting mechanics, and a realistic diamond perspective. It is also notable for featuring early synthesized voice announcements without requiring extra hardware, adding arcade-style charm to every strike, out, and home run.
How to Play
Your objective is to outscore the opposing team over a full nine-inning game. When pitching, you can alter the speed and trajectory of the ball to throw curves, fastballs, or slow change-ups. When batting, timing your swing is critical to make contact. Once the ball is hit into the field, you take control of the fielder closest to the ball to make the catch or throw to a base.

Tips
- Mix your pitches: Don’t rely solely on fastballs. Weaving in curveballs and change-ups will disrupt the batter’s timing and force swings at bad pitches.
- Watch the shadow: When fielding a fly ball, look at the shadow beneath the ball to judge where it will land and position your fielder accordingly.
- Be patient at the plate: Only swing at pitches inside the strike zone. Drawing a walk is a reliable way to get runners on base.
