Jurassic Park is a 1993 Sega Genesis action platformer developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega, released alongside Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film. You play as Dr. Alan Grant, navigating the dinosaur-infested island — visitor center, jungle paths, raptor pen — destroying raptor egg nests and fighting your way to an evacuation point.
How to play
Stages alternate between side-scrolling levels as Dr. Grant and top-down overhead sections where you play as a Velociraptor — a dual-protagonist design unusual for 1993. As Grant you start with a short-range weapon and collect a tranquilizer rifle, shotgun, and rocket launcher through the levels. Each stage requires destroying a set number of raptor eggs to unlock the exit; the proximity scanner in your HUD speeds up as you close in on a hidden nest.
Keyboard controls
- Arrow keys — move, duck, climb
- X — jump
- Z — fire
- S — cycle weapons
- Enter — pause
Tips
- Save shotgun shells for tight corridors where raptors rush in groups; the tranquilizer rifle has longer range and works better in open areas.
- Raptor and Grant stages cover the same areas of the park — clearing enemies in the top-down section reduces how many you face in the side-scroller that follows.
- Use the proximity scanner instead of searching every corner; its beep rate rises sharply when an egg nest is nearby.
