Tomcat – The F-14 Fighter Simulator is a first-person combat flight simulator released for the Atari 7800 in 1989 by Absolute Entertainment. Designed by Dan Kitchen, the game puts you in the cockpit of a fighter jet as you launch from an aircraft carrier to engage in intense dogfights and eliminate enemy targets.
How to Play
Your primary objective is to successfully take off, navigate through hostile airspace to destroy enemy bogies, and safely land your aircraft back on the carrier. In your browser, use the arrow keys to control the pitch and roll of your F-14. Press Z to fire your weapons and X to accelerate or manage your instruments.
Tips
- Takeoff requires speed: Don’t pull up immediately on the carrier deck. Let your aircraft build enough speed before pulling back on the controls, or you will crash into the ocean.
- Watch your instruments: Rely on your radar and altitude displays. It is easy to lose track of your orientation during a dogfight and accidentally dive into the ground.
