Aero Star is a distinct vertical-scrolling shooter developed by Vic Tokai and released for the Game Boy in 1991. Unlike traditional space shooters where you fly freely, your craft is restricted to traveling along specific tracks. You must battle waves of ground and aerial enemies while carefully managing your movement along these roads to survive.
How to Play
Your goal is to clear each stage by destroying enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. Because you are bound to the terrain, you must use your ship’s jumping ability to cross gaps and dodge incoming attacks. Use the Arrow Keys to steer, and press Z and X (A and B buttons) to fire your weapons and jump. Press Enter (Start) to pause or begin, and Shift (Select) for menu options.
Tips
Jumping consumes energy from your gauge, which gradually replenishes over time. Keep an eye on your meter and avoid jumping unnecessarily, or you will not have enough energy to clear fatal gaps in the track. If the movement mechanics feel restrictive at first, you can lower the difficulty setting in the main menu to practice.
