Game description:

NBA in the Zone 2 is a classic 3D basketball game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Developed by Konami, this Japanese version (known in Western regions as NBA in the Zone ’98) delivers fast-paced, arcade-leaning hoops action paired with realistic motion-captured animations. Players can hit the hardwood with rosters from the 1997-1998 season, executing high-flying dunks, tight alley-oops, and aggressive on-ball defense.

How to Play

To succeed on the court, you will need to master both offensive ball movement and defensive positioning. As a Nintendo 64 game playing in your browser, standard controls apply: use the Arrow keys for the D-pad/Analog stick to move your players, the Z, X, A, S, Q, and W keys for shooting, passing, and defensive actions, and Enter to start or pause the match. Note that while the game features Japanese menus, navigating them to start a match only takes a little trial and error before you get straight into the action.

Tips for Success

  • Set Up the Offense: Look for open passing lanes to set up alley-oops or perimeter shots. Driving straight to the basket against heavy defense often results in a blocked shot or a stripped ball.
  • Defensive Discipline: Timing your jumps for rebounds and blocks is crucial. Avoid spamming the steal action, which can leave your defender out of position and give the opposing team an easy blow-by drive to the hoop.
