Game description:

All Star Tennis 99 brings classic 3D sports action to the Nintendo 64, released in 1999 by Ubisoft. Featuring a roster of authentic tennis professionals from the era, the game offers a mix of realistic shot mechanics and accessible arcade-style gameplay. You can play through exhibition matches or aim for the championship across various court types, each affecting the bounce and speed of the ball.

How to Play

Your objective is to outscore your opponent by hitting the ball into their side of the court where they cannot return it. The Nintendo 64 controls map directly to your keyboard in the browser. Move your player using the arrow keys (analog stick). Use the X and C keys (mapped to A and B) to perform different types of shots, and I, J, K, L (C-buttons) for advanced shots like lobs. Press Enter (Start) to navigate menus. Timing your swings and positioning yourself correctly are key to winning rallies.

Tips

  • Vary your shots: Don’t just rely on standard hits. Use slices and lobs to disrupt your opponent’s rhythm and force them out of position.
  • Play the surface: Keep in mind that the ball behaves differently depending on the court. Clay courts slow the ball down, while grass courts make it bounce faster and lower.
  • Master the serve: A well-timed and placed serve can give you an immediate advantage. Try aiming for the corners to make the return as difficult as possible.
