Game description:

Insector X is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up developed by Hot-B and released for the NES in 1990. Taking control of an insect-sized warrior, you battle through a microscopic world overrun by a dark queen’s mechanized cyborg insects. Unlike its arcade counterpart which featured a cuter aesthetic, this NES port opts for a more serious, grounded visual style while retaining the core bug-blasting action.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive five distinct stages, dodging enemy fire and taking down large insect-themed bosses at the end of each level.

  • D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move in eight directions.
  • A Button (X): Fire primary weapon.
  • B Button (Z): Deploy secondary weapon.
  • Start (Enter): Pause the game.

Tips

  • Upgrade early: Prioritize collecting power-ups for your main shot; a wider spread makes dealing with swarms much easier.
  • Manage secondary weapons: Find the secondary attack that best suits the current stage layout or boss pattern to maximize damage.
