Elfaria II – The Quest of the Meld is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Red Company and published by Hudson Soft for the SNES in 1995. Set 100 years after the original game, it features a traditional RPG structure but removes standard towns and shops, forcing players to rely entirely on a unique weapon-forging mechanic and careful inventory management to survive their journey.
How to Play
Explore the world, engage in semi-automated combat, and strengthen your party by forging new gear. You can control the game using the standard SNES layout: move with the D-pad (arrow keys), and interact or confirm commands using the face buttons (mapped to Z, X, A, and S on your keyboard), with Start and Select on Enter and Shift.
Tips
- Master the Meld System: Since there are no weapon shops, you must use the “Meld” command to combine weapons with items you find to create stronger gear.
- Search the Rocks: With standard infrastructure missing, most of your essential items are hidden inside small white rocks scattered throughout the world.
- Rotate Your Party: To effectively level up your characters’ fight and magic abilities, regularly rotate them between the front and back rows of your combat formation.
