Game description:

Sonic Jam 6 is an infamous unlicensed bootleg platformer for the Sega Genesis. Released in the late 1990s, it has no relation to the official Sega Saturn compilation of the same name. Instead, it is a direct hack of a pirated Super Mario Bros. clone, swapping Mario out for sprites of Sonic the Hedgehog. Often considered the “reverse Somari”, it offers a bizarre mashup where you guide Sonic through familiar Mushroom Kingdom-style levels.

How to Play

Your goal is to reach the end of each stage before time runs out, avoiding enemies and pitfalls along the way. In your browser, you can control Sonic using the default Sega Genesis layout:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys (D-pad)
  • Jump: Z, X, or C (A, B, or C buttons)
  • Pause/Menu: Enter (Start button)

Tips

  • Watch your momentum: Because the physics engine is lifted from a Mario clone rather than a real Sonic game, Sonic controls very awkwardly and slides significantly when stopping or turning.
  • No spin dash: Unlike official Sonic titles, there is no spin dash or rolling attack. You must defeat enemies by jumping directly on top of them.
