Battleship is a digital adaptation of the classic naval strategy board game, released for the NES in 1993 by Mindscape. Players position a fleet of five distinct vessels on a grid and take turns firing blindly into enemy waters, relying on deduction and logic to locate and sink the opposing armada before their own is destroyed.
How to play
The objective is to sink all five of the opponent’s ships before they sink yours. Choose your target coordinates carefully based on previous hits and misses.

Tips
- Fire your initial shots in a diagonal or checkerboard pattern across the grid to maximize your chances of locating a ship while minimizing wasted turns.
- Once you score a hit, target the immediately adjacent squares (up, down, left, right) to determine the direction the enemy vessel is facing.
- Keep track of the sizes of the remaining enemy ships; if you are only looking for the two-peg Patrol Boat, you can safely ignore larger empty areas on your target board.
