Body Harvest is an ambitious 1998 Nintendo 64 action-adventure game developed by DMA Design. Set across multiple time periods, you play as Adam Drake, defending Earth from an alien species that arrives every 25 years to harvest humanity. The game laid the groundwork for open-world sandbox games, letting you seamlessly board and pilot dozens of civilian and military vehiclesโfrom cars and boats to tanks and aircraftโto explore large maps and battle giant insects.
How to play
The objective is to explore each time period, complete missions to unlock new areas, and destroy the alien shield generators before the bugs harvest enough humans to doom the region. For controls on a standard gamepad, use the analog stick to move Adam or steer vehicles. A fires your weapon, B is used to enter or exit vehicles, and the C-buttons manage the camera and inventory. In the browser, these map to your keyboard’s arrow keys along with X, Z, and the surrounding keys.
Tips
Always keep an eye on the harvest meter; if the aliens consume too many humans in an area, it’s game over, so prioritize responding to harvest waves. Vehicles provide crucial armor and firepower against larger bugs, so avoid fighting on foot unless necessary. Finally, check buildings for health pickups, fuel, and weapon upgrades before heading into boss encounters.
