Pleiads Centuri is a 1981 arcade shooter developed by Tehkan and published in North America by Centuri. It belongs to the same wave of fixed shooters as Galaxian, sending ranks of alien ships swooping down at your lone cannon at the bottom of the screen — but its signature twist is a warp button that instantly teleports your ship to the top of the field to grab a bonus jewel, trading a moment of safety for extra points.
How to Play
Move left and right with the arrow keys, and fire with Z. Press X to warp: your ship jumps to the top of the screen, where a jewel is waiting to be collected, then warps back down. It’s fast and rewarding, but it also puts you right in the middle of the alien formation, so timing the warp matters as much as timing your shots.
Tips
- Thin out the alien ships closest to your position before anything else — they’re the ones most likely to dive-bomb you next.
- Only warp for a jewel when the formation above is thin; warping into a crowded cluster of aliens is the fastest way to lose a life.
- Keep moving after you fire. Standing still to line up a shot leaves you an easy target for divers.
